My Writing Journey
Dear reader,
I'd like to say I was "born" a natural writer, but I think my writing is more attributed to time spent on the craft. In my late teen's, I was placed in a residential treatment facility for bulimia and self-harm where I stayed for many months. No cell phones were allowed in this facility, which meant I was left to my own thoughts. Cue notebook and pencil, and the beginning of my writing journey. I became addicted to writing, as it was one of my only outlets for my anxiety. This is also where I began coping with dark humor. I frequented many more psych wards throughout my early twenties, and during this time, I wrote many books that I would later throw in the trash. I considered it a failure. But now looking back... I'm so proud of myself for not giving up! I can now say I've been officially recovered from bulimia for 10+ years, and I haven't had thoughts of self-harm in ages! And the best part? I kept writing! I started writing A CURSE OF LOVE in 2023. In the fall of 2024/spring of 2025, I queried it to literary agents and I got 8 full manuscript requests. I was so excited! While I was querying, I wrote another book! Finally, I felt like my hard work was paying off. But those full manuscript requests ultimately ended with rejections or ghosting. And in March of 2025, I experienced an ectopic rupture that would rock my world. Instead of giving up and calling it quits, I took all of my pent-up anger and channeled it into my books. I spent countless hours around the clock editing and working with character artists to get this book to where it's at now. I was determined to prove everybody wrong. And I can finally say, without a shadow of a doubt, A CURSE OF LOVE is ready! I'm so excited to take my author journey into my own hands, and without you... dear reader... my dreams would not be possible. I can't thank you enough for believing in me and supporting my indie author journey. I hope my characters bring you the comfort they brought me.
